29|06|1996 The Kuip Rotterdam

At 07:30 in the morning I went of with my friends to make a trip to Rotterdam.
Today we will see Melissa and her band again after a 5 months break!
Sunshine some good practice music and brought us to the place to be "The Kuip Rotterdam"
Some of the DDH were already arrived and we talked shared stories with other fans.
This was the concert I met Tulipgirl, she was a greeny those days lol and we were so ready.
Some showers and sunshine brought us true the day, including a lot of toilet visits.

This year 1996 was the start of the famous "the green grass grew all around" story!
Some other fans had the lyrics on flyers and they asked us to sing a long, this because many people around us didn't know the song and also, most people came for Bryan Adams!
But they took the time to learn the song and at the end of the afternoon the people sing the song "the green grass grew all around".

Around 3 o'clock security came and so I had to hide my camera again on my not so safe place!
Misha, also know as the screaming Dutch man, walked first into the arena and security picked him out!
Oohhh no come on we also want to get in.
They really turned Misha inside out and he had nothing to hide, it was his face that they didn't trust lol.

Than I had to go pass security, I had of course a girl who wanted to check me.
I remember thinking "" ooh no, not my cross; don't touch it, because there is my photo cam!!"
I get by her and well I run. Run as I never had run before!
Turn left right and then ONE BIG FOOTBALL FIELD IN FRONT OF ME!
Oooh my god ! But I made it into the special area, the space where you received a bracelet for getting in and out of that area.

Misha Stephan Jolies Paulien and me we were in the front, sitting down at the gate to get some air.
Awesome!
I must tell you, you think you can't make it but you have a goal, and that make's you forget anything and you are like a panther so fast!

The not so pretty thing was that the stage was way too high, and that you couldn't see the drum.
So we hoped that Melissa would play at the edge of the stage.
Some showers came over and the band Gin Blossom started of as opening act.
We hided us under some plastic and the leadsinger of Gin Blossom hold an umbrella while he was singing.

After the opening act the stage was made ready for Melissa and we practice a wave with the Bryan fans.
Some Bryan fans were even that kind to let some Melissa stand in front, with a deal that they would go away when Melissa was over! Good deal huh.

Then the show started, Melissa came on stage wearing a cool red leather jacket, silver blouse, black polo, black leather pants and some cool green doctor martens. May the party begin? Yes!

First I made some quick pictures and the guys pulled me up them shoulders so I good take 3 great picks. The stage was way too high to take good shots so this was my change before security would spot me.

I had made a plate with YES at one side, and NO at the other side.
So on the song " a unusual kiss" at the word kiss I signed YES, she laughed and moved with her head No No lol.
Our on the song "You must be crazy for me", she pointed out to me and I signed No and she looked like No? Awesome moment!

At one silent moment at the show some fans screamed: "Melissa we want to sing a song with you", her reply was;"Yes I heard all about it, and I don't know the lyrics anymore.
"I
t's been a long time since I sang it!"
"
But we have the lyrics", as they holding up the flyers.
She laughed and made a promise that she will sing it next time she was in Holland!
We sure didn't forget that promise. And Melissa even played a little intro of TGGGAA.
What a moment that was.

My first "touched me deep & emotional' by a Melissa song, was that day in Rotterdam!
She started of the Silent Legacy and from the first tune until the last she pulled me higher and higher.
Melissa gave us a version that made me cry for the first time.
She threw so much anger power and emotions in to that version man what an amazing gift!
Especially the scream at the end ppfffff

I looked up to Misha and told him that I found it kind of scary; I was so overwhelmed with emotions.
That's the beauty of Melissa songs ill think.
Feeling the power and hurting in your innersole, and how she performs them. No words can describe that feeling in me.
I came back on earth and not a few minutes later she started like the way I do!

"
Bring me some water..", it was time for the cards (Stephan).
He stood between Misha and me and he had the card Queen of Hearts on top.
Melissa looked up and her eyes where on the cards. Dave Beyer the drummer laughed behind his drum, and kept to the rhythm.
One two.. One two three four....and up they went!
We looked how the cards fell down and right in front of us on the floor was "Queen of Hearts"
Stephan received the drumsticks of Dave Beyer.
Great show which is one of my favourite's ...that day I fell in love with the song "Silent Legacy".
